TENDER MINCED BEEF & CARROTS WITH CREAMY MASHED SPUDS
Beef is a good source of Vitamin B12. This is an unusual vitamin because so far no animal or plant can make it, instead we have to reply on tiny microorganisms like bacteria and yeast to do the job for us.
It is vital for lots of things such as normal brain function and energy.
This is interesting because it shows we need the likes of bacteria and yeast…perhaps more than they need us!
More Information
Apparently, the nursery rhyme that goes “four and twenty blackbirds baked in pie” isn’t some jester's 18th century practical joke. It was “Blackbeard” the infamous pirate’s secret code for a recruitment drive. Sixpence was the wage, rye, the whiskey and “baked in a pie” referring to the pirates crew hiding prior to an attack.

MASHED TURNIP WITH CRISPY BACON:
Peel and chop up the turnip and boil in salted water. When nearly cooked, discard most of the water and allow the remaining water to evaporate off. When soft (cooked), mash in a big knob of butter and a splash of cream with an old fashioned potato masher. Stir in crispy fried lardons of bacon, check seasoning and serve. Delicious!
