Great British Beach Clean 2023

Great British Beach Clean 2023

For a second year running, Cully and Sully sponsored the Great British Beach Clean.

It was bigger and had a better impact than ever. The clean-ups which took place from the 15th – 24th of September across 424 beaches and waterways around the UK had a whopping 5,416 volunteers turn up. That was an 11% increase in events from 2022 and a 3% increase in volunteers. Most impressively they collected 7,476kg of litter, 91% more litter than in 2022.  That’s the same weight as a male orca!

Cully drove the Cully and Sully campervan from Cork and did a beach clean road trip from Swansea to Brighton where 58kg of litter was collected along the way. Cully served up yummy cups of warming Cully and Sully soup to the volunteers at the beach cleans he visited along the way

As a thank you to the volunteers Cully and Sully ran a giveaway of a Starboard Stand UP Paddleboard for the volunteer who shared Cully and Sully’s favourite content from a beach clean.

We had 250,000 lids printed with details on the Great British Beach Clean and SUP giveaway.

Clean Coasts Big Beach Clean 2023

Cully and Sully sponsored The Big Beach Clean for a fifth year.

It is a fantastic impactful initiative run by Clean Coasts that is really close to our hearts.

It ran from the 15th -17th of September with some postponed beach cleans due to weather warnings in certain parts of the country.

There was an impressive 421 beach cleans carried out by 7,682 SOUPerb volunteers who collected 46 tonnes of litter. That’s equivalent to 12 hippos!!!

Cully and Sully were on the beach at Youghal for the flagship event to wrap up this year's campaign. We served up Cully and Sully soup to the volunteers from the Cully and Sully campervan as we have been doing at local beach cleans all year long.

Great British Beach Clean 2022

In 2022, we extended our sponsorship of Beach Clean Initiatives across the water to the UK.

The Great British Beach Clean took place from the 19th-25th of September when 5,000 volunteers at 382 events collected nearly 4 tonnes of litter.

Over the week of cleans ups the Cully and Sully team and their families took part in a British Beach Clean on Hove Beach in Brighton where we served up soup for all the volunteers.

Big Beach Clean 2022

The Big Beach Clean took place on a whopping 514 beaches around Ireland from the 16th – the 18th of September.

This was Cully and Sully’s third year supporting the Clean Coasts initiative to facilitate the nation to get hands-on and clean up our coastline.

The Big Beach Clean had another record-breaking year with a total of 514 groups registered for cleans ups. They removed over 63 tonnes of litter, which equates to the weight of 21 Orcas. What a difference many hands make.

A BIG thank you to everyone who got behind this impactful initiative. Clean Coasts runs the Big Beach Clean in conjunction with International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), operated internationally by Ocean Conservancy.
