We are so excited about the return of Grow2CEO with GIY this month. This campaign gives students of secondary schools across Ireland the chance to gain a better understanding about growing food and encourages discussion around sourcing food and making overall healthier food choices. It will also give students a chance to learn all about food entrepreneurship and food business. The end goal of this campaign is to get students to create a delicious soup recipe using the skills and knowledge they have gained over the course of the campaign’s 4 key challenges.

The four key challenges include planting seeds, creating a business idea, learning about food marketing and developing a recipe using the spinach they have grown themselves. These challenges will link to statements of learning for subjects such as Science, Business Studies, Home Economics and there will be key discussion points to accompany each challenge. Each class will be equipped with a growing kit which contains everything you need to plant and grow your spinach seeds.

Three of the best classes will be invited to attend the finale event in GROW HQ in Waterford on the 25th May 2019 where they will present their soup to a judging panel. The winning school of the coveted Grow2CEO 2019 award will win prizes to the value of €5000!! These include:

  •  A vegetable garden worth €3,000 for the school
  •  An overnight break away to Ballymaloe House for the winning teacher
  •  GROW2CEO hoodies for the winning class
