What is GIVE PEAS A CHANCE?

GIY (Grow it Yourself) have teamed up with Cully & Sully, one of Ireland’s biggest food business success stories to create the Give Peas a Chance campaign to foster a spirit of food entrepreneurship in Irish secondary schools.

We want students to replicate the Cully & Sully success story by using their class grown peas or pea shoots to create a soup recipe, name it, and pitch it to us as a food business of the future.

The 5 most impressive teams will come down to GROW HQ to represent their class to pitch their idea. To win the grand prize your teams need to show us their progress, complete 4 weekly challenges and pitch us their #ReciPEAForSuccess. The growing season will run from 24th April to May 19th  2017.

Week 3

There are 3 ways to update us:

Each Monday we will email you full details of the challenge for the week ahead, students must post their progress to social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) using the class hashtag. Teams should also include the numbered wooden spoon in their images when posting their weekly #ReciPEAForSuccess entries*. Your class hashtag will have arrived by email shortly after you registered.

The first three challenges should be completed by ALL teams in the class individually, after this we are asking you, the teacher, to pick one team to move forward onto the next stage of the competition and represent your school. We will email you a scoring sheet so you can fairly mark each team and pick a winner. The winning team will then complete the final challenge in Week 4 (see below). We would encourage the other teams to help prepare the finalists’ video and be a part of the final submission.

Week 4 (Week commencing 15th May): ReciPEA For Success:

Upload 1 min video with brief recipe idea and why you should be chosen. We will be asking students to show us their branding, soup name and other business ideas

5 teams across the country will be picked from these videos entries and will be invited to GROW HQ, Waterford on the 24th May to present their food business idea along with their pre prepared soup to our panel of experts! The over all winner will be picked and announced on the day.
